Cyber Security concepts, threats, and solutions (Students Notes)

In-class practices

Students should read CyBOK Knowledge Areas materials and other provided documents and watch the videos to understand the topic. The lecturer will ask you to join a small group and research cyber threats and solutions. You can use the following resources and guide to find the most recent cyber attacks, detection/prevention solutions, and their impacts on organisations and people.

1. You should make a short list of proper keywords and Google them. For instance, you could use keywords such as “recent cyber attacks,” “real-world cyber attacks,” “cyber attack detection solutions,” etc. Then, read the websites and articles and their important links and references. Make a list of impacts on organisations, such as financial and reputational impacts.
2. Use scholar.google.com to find and read research articles about the topic.
3. You can also use the following resources to get more information:
   MITRE ATT&CK
   Cyber security breaches survey 2023
   Data Breaches and Cyber Attacks in 2023
   10 Biggest Cyber Attacks in History (Google and find more information about each one of those attacks)

Make a short presentation and include how the cyber threat/attack works, its background, a real-world attack (related to that threat), its consequences and impacts on the organisation (s), and how they could detect or prevent the attack.
